Introductions

Welcome to The Last Gasp of Americana, a blog created to reignite the American spirit. In a culture rank with nihilism and indifference, we are making an effort to discover and showcase American artists.

As Americans, we inhabit the birthplace of Ernest Hemingway, fried chicken, Mickey Mouse, Barbie, screwball comedy, the Power Rangers, Star Wars, and Al Pacino. American pop culture is as unique as our cultural demographics. People are drawn globally to the United States, searching for better jobs and better futures than their home countries can promise them. Despite the numerous missteps made in various administrations, and the turbulent history of civil rights and racism, we are still united as a nation. Even today, people are struggling to gain civil liberties and equal treatment.

Our hope, our mission, and our interest in all of this, is to create a network of artists representing their country. Art is one of the fields in which anyone can participate, be it through writing, painting, drawing, sculpting, viewing, what have you. We want to emphasize the aspects of our country that make it the best nation in the world and to remind the American people just how lucky they are to live in such a culturally diverse country.

Artists of all disciplines are welcomed and encouraged to send in their work.
